Hello again,
Some updates! This month, Samovar reprinted my short story WORKER’S SONG, originally published by Mafaverna in a special edition focused on democracy. It’s available in English and Portuguese, and it follows what happens to a colony after the loss of their queen:
For a moment, that is how we see her, ephemeral, not the end of our lineage, not an announced calamity, not the imminent destruction of our anthill that now decays without new life.
She is nothing but a body.
In August, I’ll also have two other stories you can read for free: a translation of COCOON to be published in Portuguese by Fantástico Guia, and BITE ME, DRINK ME, EAT ME, a new gory tale that will be out this week on The Dark, this one for the monster lovers. So watch out!

The final part of the Auschwitz Trilogy, following the excellent If This Is a Man (1947) and The Truce (1963), is a collection of essays analyzing not only the Holocaust and anti-Semitism, but the nature of cruelty, both in those who cause it and those who suffer it. Primo Levi’s testimony as a survivor and witness of the death camps is invaluable, as is his exploration of trauma, memory, shame and guilt after extreme violence.
